Its been a lazy afternoon, snow has been drifting down on and off throughout the day, fortunately its melting as soon as it hits the ground. So instead of actually working on miniatures I have been cruising the internet looking for buildings. I need buildings, I game a lot of periods and there are a number of European buildings that will work in a lot of them. So today I was looking for 15mm Science Fiction buildings, specifically laser cut buildings that would let you get miniatures on the inside. I didn't really find anything I liked in 15mm but I found a 28mm line that I wish was being done in 15mm: Sarissa
These are perfect for a frontier world just getting on its feet. Sigh, sent them an email to see if they had plans to do them in 15mm. Somehow that lead to 15mm WWII. Well, I need those too for my FOW games. I have been admiring the 4Ground buildings so I ended up buying a selection of their 15mm WWII buildings. Looking forward to those arriving. Then somehow that lead to 28mm Western buildings, probably because I caught site of them on the Sarissa page. Sarissa makes a great looking Livery Stable but most of the rest of the line leaves me a little cold. Then I found a company called Aetherworks. Love these buildings, they are just about perfect, the shipping though, WOW. The shipping cost almost as much as the buildings. So I'm holding off on that one. And since I was on a western binge I figured I should add some more western figures to my collection so off I went to Black Scorpion Miniatures. I love their tombstone line and I picked up both of the civilian sets, because, I need more civilians. Then I spotted some buildings from Battleflag. Again some seriously nice stuff there. A little on the pricey side. But, if I can some how manage to justify an order to Australia then I could add a couple of nicer buildings to round things out.
So I managed to spend a chunk of money and don't really have anything to show for it yet...Sigh. Ah well, the best laid plans of mice and men.
What I ordered from Black Scorpion
Sounds like a good day to me Kris. I checked out Black Scorpion and I liked a lot of their figures. Next spending spree I may hit them up.
ReplyDeleteThe groups you bought will be fun to paint. Now the excitement of waiting for the post to arrive begins!
Waiting certainly adds a certain level of anticipation to things, that's for sure. But, it definitely lacks that instant gratification aspect of picking it out in the store. I miss my FLGS!
