ReaperCon 2013 - Saturday Day 3

Well, actually its Monday so I'm a little behind on posting. Its been busy to say the least. ReaperCon is hard to describe, its not like other US gaming conventions at all, it is unique. Anyway, pictures do much better showing off what's going on than me rambling on.
The Saturday morning line for registration and pre-registration.
Kaladrax waiting for the attendees to arrive. Someone has glued and extra metal bit to his head.

The Gallery Room. This room is filled with painted Reaper Minis a good chunk of which have been painted by freelance painters, along with those painted by Anne Foerster and Martin Jones.

A painted version of Kaladra. He sitting on the top shelf above two painted versions of Nethy.

A full contest room. We ended up with about 250 entries, from 104 entrants. We had some long hours judging Friday night and then had to judge the entries that arrived on Saturday. I had to herd cats to get that team together! After that we did the judging for the three categories of Sophie Trophies

Dark Carnival Dungeon Crawl in progress

The original Reaper Con Dungeon Crawl in progress. This is the first year that I have not run this game or any game for that matter.

Glen of the North Texas Figure Club. He put up their display and helped us in the contest room. I learned a lot about how the various Historical Miniature shows work and judge their entries. We do use, basically, the same system.

General Saturday Mayhem

More Saturday Mayhem. The big tournament games were moved off site this year to the Hilton Garden hotel. Reaper ran shuttles between the two sites during the con.

Debbie, wondering if the flow of entries will ever end.

Sifting through the metal trade in table. Saving old minis before they are melted down to make new ones.

  2. Funny thing. I live 15 minutes away and just couldn't get over to ReaperCon this year. I usually pop in and look around at least one day every year. Looks like it was a larger showing this year. Thanks for the pictures.

    1. It was definitely the largest so far. We will see if the numbers hold up through next year as well. If they do changes will probably have to be made.

  3. I'm going to have to go to their site and see all the entries and prize winners. Con attendance seems to be up everywhere this year. Which is a good indication that our hobby is healthy and growing.

Have a safe journey home Kris!

    1. It will probably be a while before you see who one what but all the entries are on the website now. The entry system automatically posted them up to the website. I have a complete list of the winners. So I can probably tell you what someone one and which piece was actually judged.
