500+ entries from 137 entrants, I couldn't be happier with the turnout. There were some truly stellar entries too, sometimes it makes it really hard to sit down and judge these things. Kind of evaluating where those levels between bronze and silver or silver and gold are can be really difficult. Which is why I track the scores of all our judges so I can pick up on trends and make sure Michael and I can keep the teams balanced out for the show.
Anyway here are some of my favorite entries from the show this year. You can find a complete gallery of images on the ReaperCon.com website

Martin Jones - I love this concept it just feel a little short for me |
A scratchbuilt Borg Queen |
A Scratchbuilt Sophie |
Cutebutpyscho - I did a variation of this a number of years ago (actually longer than I think) |
Here's mine, I'm thinking 2009. I think Erin's is better, smaller more compact although the posing is a bit awkward |
You've got the best of the best up here. Some of the top painters around show up at Reaper and it must be a pleasure to see their work in real life.
ReplyDeleteI've got to find time to get back to the forum. I really miss seeing peoples work and learning from that bunch. By the end of the month I've just GOT to get there.
We definitely had some of the heavy hitters at the show this year. We miss you on the forums and you could come right back in with the wonderful cannibal tribe you did. I would love to see you get to the show in person one of these years!
DeleteWhat? Mine wasn't a favorite? :( You picked a lot of the same ones I did. Loved Marike's giant. It was my vote for Best in Show for a long while.
ReplyDeleteIt is a beautiful piece, she entered that in Crystal Brush a couple of years ago I think.
DeleteLovely pieces, although for me the Oz one is the most accessible. I agree with you that it needs some editing. (e.g. the twister base, while interesting, is sort of muddy and takes away from the color transition.)
ReplyDeleteI liked the Wizard of Oz one as well, but I agree it is missing some narrative component.
