Life is short, break the rules. Forgive quickly, kiss slowly. Love truly, laugh uncontrollably and never regret anything that makes you smile. - Samuel Longhorne Clemens (Mark Twain)

Life Intervenes - Kitchen Renovation - End of the 1st Week

The demo crew finished up the floor with new Hardibacker (although its a different brand from Hardibacker). This time they made sure that the Hardibacker sheets ran 90 degrees from the subfloor so the number of places where joints overlapped was minimized. The original floor had lots of cracks along the lines of the subfloor because the original builder basically layed all the panels the same way so there were 5' long joints that were common between the subfloor and the Hardibacker. Our GC made sure that this didn't happen!

Unfortunately the tiling crew was down a man and it took three days to tile and a fourth to grout before we could move forward to fixing the drywall.

Hardibacker down, ready to remove some of the extraneous piping. Here is the 35# dog for scale.

Hardibacker down, extra stuff removed. One 10# cat for scale.

End of day three for tiling.

Tile and grout finished. One large dog for scale and claiming the room.

Looking to the outside, love the tile. Another large dog for scale.
