Life is short, break the rules. Forgive quickly, kiss slowly. Love truly, laugh uncontrollably and never regret anything that makes you smile. - Samuel Longhorne Clemens (Mark Twain)

The Eagles have Landed 3 - Round 2 Models 22" Eagle Transporter

And here we go with the big kit and this is a very full box. There have been a number of 22" resin versions of the Eagle Transporter released over the years (Warp Models comes to mind) but this one promises to be the most accurate kit commercially available. With the dimensions taken from the first "Hero" 44" model used for filming the TV show this one should pretty much have it all. I really can't wait to get started on it. I'm already contemplating getting a second one.

There are two upgrade kits out there for this one right now. The first one replaces the engine bells and the oleo supports with aluminum versions. This costs almost as much as the kit itself. There is a second kit that replaces all the small metal thrusters with turned aluminum as well, this one is much more reasonable. However, I have decided to forgo the upgrade kits. Maybe the second time around.

I'm hoping that there might be some resin add on kits to convert this to a couple of the other versions.

As you can see from the pictures this is a real box full of parts!

The decal sheet is sealed and I'm going to leave it that way till I'm ready to start on this one.

A New Eagle

Okay, I admit it I was a huge Space 1999 fan back in the 70s and the Eagle transporter is probably one of my favorite science fiction space vehicles. Right along side the X-Wing fighter and the Viper from Battlestar Galactica.

Round 2 productions has released a brand new 22" kit for the Eagle as well as putting some of the early Eagles back into production. I'm really excited and as soon as the bonus hits the bank account I'll be picking up at least one of these bad boys and a couple of the other re-issued kits (just to practice on mind you),
The new kit, essentially 1/48th Scale I think

The old kit, it has problems but there it has some sentimental value,

Still based on the old kit and representing one of the variants seen in the series.
To get the ball rolling I picked up a compilation of Eagle articles that were written leading up to this release. I did go online and found out that it is still possible to get a kit of the 44" Eagle, but I don't have 2 grand ready to drop on that one...not yet anyway!
