Today was a big day! The mailbox had one of those very interesting packages that come all the way from the UK. And yes, inside were the 20mm Marines I had ordered from Elhiem. Can't really say enough about the service. Ordered these on the 2/21 and here they just squeaked in on 2/29. So 8 days start to finish. Now if I could only get them painted up that fast. Well actually I suppose I could, they are pretty small compared to my WWI Marines. Small enough that I snapped a quick comparison picture. So a couple of pictures and I'll take them with me tonight and maybe starting working on them. I should be painting that bloody Zoave but he's hiding on my desk again. Now if I could find some HMMWV in 1/72 or 20mm scale that were reasonably priced I would be happy.

Quotes
Life is short, break the rules. Forgive quickly, kiss slowly. Love truly, laugh uncontrollably and never regret anything that makes you smile. - Samuel Longhorne Clemens (Mark Twain)
Look at all those minis! You're just rubbing my nose in it now aren't you? Dammit, I only have 7 mini's coming and you've got a whole pile up there. I'm green with envy and the only thing I can think of to make me feel better is to go eat ice cream and pace the floor till my paints come!!
ReplyDeleteIts hard to argue with ice cream. But keep in mind that your minis are going to be much bigger than this tiny little marines. Those frogs are huge! And the paint will be there soon. Don't forget about selling or leasing children to increase your hobby funds.
DeleteI know those frogs are monsters compared to these guys! It would make a great movie. The Court Jester Frog vs the Marines, made in Japan of course. I've got bids coming in on Ebay for my son right now.
ReplyDeleteThat would be a great movie! Hah, I have two sons, and 30 years of collecting miniatures, you won't be able to catch me.
DeleteI finally finished cleaning all 52 of my USMC, mounted them on pennies, but sand on their base, and primed them! (As you know priming is difficult in Colorado, sometimes you only get a 30 minute window of good temperature/weather). I think it is really cool that you bought some models. I think Matt at Elhiem is very professional for a one man business when it comes to getting orders out.
ReplyDeleteI'm about half throw getting them cleaned up right now. I might be able to start painting next week. Right now I'm trying to figure out vehicles.
