I had a meeting in Washington DC last week, one of those places that I have never been to. Since it was part of a business trip I didn't really have a lot of time so I couldn't actually visit the museums and monuments the way I would have liked. So a fast walking trip was the plan. 10 miles and two hours late I made it back to my train. I have never managed to get lost when I have walked but the DC streets are very confusing. Today I'm going to focus on some of the buildings and architecture that struck me as interesting, the monument pictures can follow on another day.

Welcome to DC!
ReplyDeleteI have an office in Georgetown but live out on the MD Eastern Shore.
My one suggestion while in DC if to visit the Building Museum - it's really worth the trip for any model builder
Enjoy your visit

I walked by that building but I just didn't have time to go inside. I'll have it on my list when I go visit for real!
DeleteI've not been to DC myself and really I should try to make it sometime. It would have been nice if you'd been on holiday and could have explored it at leisure. Nice pics Kris!
ReplyDeleteThanks Anne! One day I'll get there as a vacation. So many museums so little time.
DeleteFor your future safety, wandering randomly in DC is kind of like wandering randomly in New Orleans. One minute, it's beautiful, and touristy, and fascinating.
ReplyDeleteAnd the next minute you're in Beirut.
It's kind of important to try to avoid getting lost. 8-)
ps. Both Torin and Lily have the pics for the con on CD (and Torin has said that he can ftp them pretty easily). I have a CD for you as well, but haven't seen you at a 2nd Sat. since the con.
I figured that out, I definitely walked through a couple of shady areas, but looking confident got me through okay, and it was broad daylight. I won't get lost next time, no more trusting my phone's gps.
DeleteI should be at the second Saturday on the 10th. Traveling like this means I spend as much time in Ft Collins as possible.
